Chatham Historic Dockyard Food & Drink Festival

Event Date(s)

30/03/2018 - 02/04/2018 - 4 day(s)

Information For Trader/Participants

Our Food and Drink Festival will benefit both from the unique setting within the Historic dockyard and being a part of the hugely popular Festival of Steam, a firm favourite in the Dockyard' event calendar.

We are always looking for special venues in which to stage our themed events and Chatham's Historic Dockyard is surely one of the most spectacular to date. The ideal setting for the Festival of Steam which in turn provides the perfect piggy back to launch our food and drink offer, self contained but with benefit of a ready made footfall of over 12,000 visitors to Chatham Historic Dockyard over the Easter weekend.

Our event will feature on all Chatham Historic Dockyard promotional material relating to the Steam Festival in the run up to Easter 2018.

As usual we will provide a seating/dining area together with a live music stage and craft beer festival to create an entertaining atmosphere.

This is an opportunity to establish another of our best in Kent events and making a little of our own history. We look forward to receiving bookings from businesses offering a range of fresh produce, street food and associated culinary products.

Interesting Facts About The Venue

Chatham Dockyard was a Royal Navy Dockyard located on the River Medway in Kent. Established in Chatham in the mid-16th century, the dockyard subsequently expanded into neighbouring Gillingham (at its most extensive, in the early 20th century, two-thirds of the dockyard lay in Gillingham, one-third in Chatham).

It came into existence at the time when, following the Reformation, relations with the Catholic countries of Europe had worsened, leading to a requirement for additional defences. For 414 years Chatham Royal Dockyard provided over 500 ships for the Royal Navy, and was at the forefront of shipbuilding, industrial and architectural technology. At its height, it employed over 10,000 skilled artisans and covered 400 acres (1.6 kmĀ²). Chatham dockyard closed in 1984, and 84 acres (340,000 m2) of the Georgian dockyard is now managed as a visitor attraction by the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust.
