Information For Trader/Participants

UPDATE 3/3/21 - Following the government announcement re road map out of lock down 10-12 September has been re-branded to Food & Drink Festival, with the Market moved to June. This decision has been taken to give each weekend the best possible chance of success, adhering to guidelines at the time. All traders have been notified via email.

This is our fifth year trading in Tenterden, following our successful launch in 2017. The previous years have shown that Tenterden is a strong all round event with products and produce selling well across the board. Bread and cheese for example are as popular with the visitors as takeaway food and the children's fair ground rides do steady business throughout the weekend. We all know that it is becoming increasingly difficult to build markets/events where all participants do business, but Tenterden is certainly one of those rare examples and, given good weather, this market has all the right ingredients for an excellent weekend of trading, with an informed and enthusiastic public, a family friendly environment and backdrop of independent retail shops in the High Street.

It is worth noting the catchment that Tenterden can call upon for its customer base. Not only does it have a local population living in the town who are used to shopping at high end independent retailers, but geographically, Tenterden is central to a good number of smaller up market villages on the Kent/Sussex boarder. These villagers will all come into Tenterden if there is a special market/event in town.

Interesting Facts About The Venue

A number of local tourist attractions draw a great many visitors, especially the Kent & East Sussex Railway line to Bodiam, Chapel Down (a local vineyard which produces some highly acclaimed wines) and Smallhythe Place, which once belonged to the late Ellen Terry, which now holds both a museum and a theatre. Tenterden and District Museum is at the heart of the town, on Station Road.
