Market Square Group is returning to St Ives in March 2018 with our popular World Village Market.

St Ives is located 5 miles east of Huntingdon and 12 miles North West of Cambridge and can be reached easily from the A14.

The ancient market town of St. Ives is a commuter town for Cambridge, Peterborough and London and we expect the weekend to be busy. The St. Ives Food & Drink Festival will be located on Market Hill and Sheep Market (wide paved area on Market Hill) - a well know event space.

Our fantastic two-day street market with its trademark festival feel will be creating a buzz in town, from Saturday 24 - Sunday 25 March 2018.

The exciting and colourful World Village Market showcases products unique to particular regions from around the globe that bring together colour and character with sustainable business practices and originality.

With exotic world cooking, homemade, healthy and traceable foods together with ethical traded, eco-friendly arts, crafts, clothing and jewellery, this original themed market showcases products of excellent quality and unquestionable authenticity.

In planning the World Village Market we actively seek out that which is unusual.

Interesting Facts About The Venue

This attractive market town build on the banks of the River Ouse dates back to well before the Doomsday Book. Known for centuries as one of the largest markets in Europe, St Ives was a thriving hub for East Anglian trade.

Interestingly, St Ives is named after St. Ivo who was a Persian Bishop whose remains were discovered buried in 1001AD.

St Ives was also in the middle of Oliver Cromwell's constituency and a statue of the great man, warts and all, can be seen on Market Hill.

The bridge across the Ouse is well worth a visit and is unusual both in its design and the fact it has a chapel in the middle which became home to the local Prior after the disillusion of the monasteries in 1537.

There are a number of interesting shops including one of the best whisky shops in the country.
